Apple Kendama, BLINKING – Yasuhiro Suzuki, Art Exhibition

“Playing with kendama makes use of Earth’s gravity. That’s why I made the red ball in the shape of an apple. Newton is said to have arrived at Newton’s law of gravitation by starting with an apple. Kendama has its roots in the game of challenging the invisible connection between nature and yourself.”

*kendama is a traditional Japanese toy in which the player tries to catch a ball on one of its three shallow cups.
